The Institute of Women's Health of North America is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has an independent Board of Directors. All contributions to the Institute of Women's Health of North America are tax exempt within the fullest extent of the law. One of its primary missions is to provide access to quality clinical care to uninsured and/or underinsured indigent women who would otherwise be unable to afford a visit to a healthcare provider.
In fiscal year 2008-09, the Institute and its physicians, nurse practitioners, and healthcare providers have served hundreds of indigent women providing them with access to the following:
- Free HIV testing and counseling
- Free testing and counseling for STDs
- Screening for cervical cancers and Pap smears
- Routine gynecological examinations, etc.
To continue to provide these services and to further expand our much-needed community outreach programs, the Institute has initiated the following fund raising campaign:
- TITLE: BRIDGING THE DISPARITY IN WOMEN'S HEALTHCARE
- YEAR: 2009-10
- AMOUNT TO BE RAISED: $1 MILLION
