One of our important core missions is to be involved in cutting-edge translational and clinical research. We want to be at the forefront of discovery and innovation of new drugs, devices, diagnostic products and treatment regimens that would allow us to make timely diagnosis of and/or prevent or treat diseases in women.
At the present time, our physicians and scientists are primarily engaged in following areas of translational and clinical research:
- HIV/AIDS
- STDs
- Cervical, breast and uterine cancers
- Birth Control/Contraception
Most clinical/research campuses (OUR CAMPUSES) affiliated with the Institute are approved by the Florida State Department of Health to serve as HIV/AIDS and STDs testing and counseling sites. We therefore have access to a very large and diverse cohort of patients/research subjects who are suitable for inclusion in many different clinical trials. We are presently engaged in Phase II and III clinical trails but are gearing up to undertake Phase I clinical trials in our Ft. Lauderdale location.

Representatives of CRO's and the pharmaceutical industry interested in collaborating with the Institute for the conduct of clinical trials are welcome to contact Jessica Loren at jloren@iwhna.org. As one of the largest providers of healthcare to women in the State of Florida we look forward to forging new and mutually productive partnerships with industry sponsors for translational and clinical research.
